प्रत्येक वर्ष 20 जून को विश्व शरणार्थी दिवस मनाया जाता है (World Refugee Day is observed every year on June 20.)। विश्व शरणार्थी दिवस दुनिया भर में शरणार्थियों की स्थिति के बारे में जागरूकता बढ़ाने के लिए किया जाता है (World Refugee Day is observed to raise awareness about the situation of refugees around the world.)। यह दिवस सबसे पहले 4 दिसंबर 2000 को संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासभा ने निर्णय लिया कि 2000 से (This day was first celebrated on 4 December 2000 by the United Nations General Assembly.), 20 जून को विश्व शरणार्थी दिवस के रूप में मनाया जाएगा। यह दिवस शरणार्थियों के मानवीय अधिकारों पर जोर देता है तथा उन्हें नए स्थानों पर फिर से अपना जीवन बनाने में सहायता प्रदान करता है (This day emphasizes the human rights of refugees and assists them in rebuilding their lives in new locations.)।

विश्व शरणार्थी दिवस, शक्ति तथा संकल्प के प्रति सम्मान व्यक्त करने के लिए मनाया जाता है। शरणार्थियों की दुर्दशा की ओर ध्यान आकर्षित करने तथा शरणार्थी समस्याओं को हल करने के लिए विश्व शरणार्थी दिवस के रूप मनाया जाता है। World Refugee Day is observed to pay tribute to the strength and resolve of refugees. It is marked to draw attention to the plight of refugees and to address the challenges they face.

विश्व शरणार्थी दिवस की थीम : Theme of World Refugee Day –

• शरणार्थियों के साथ एकजुटता। : Solidarity with refugees.
• यह वर्ष वैश्विक अनिश्चितता के समय में विस्थापित एवं शरणार्थियों के प्रति कार्रवाई व सहानुभूति के लिए एक शक्तिशाली आह्वान करता है। : This year issues a powerful call for action and empathy towards displaced persons and refugees amidst a time of global uncertainty.
• श्रम अधिकारों की रक्षा, शोषण की रोकथाम तथा उन्हें श्रमिक संघों में भागीदारी का अवसर देना। : Protecting labor rights, preventing exploitation, and providing opportunities for participation in labor unions.

विश्व शरणार्थी दिवस का मुख्य उद्देश्य : The main objective of World Refugee Day –

• मुख्य उद्देश्य दुनिया भर में शरणार्थियों की स्थिति के बारे में जागरूकता बढ़ाना है। : The main objective is to raise awareness about the situation of refugees worldwide.
• विश्व शरणार्थी दिवस शरणार्थियों के बुनियादी मानवीय अधिकारों तथा उन्हें नए स्थानों पर फिर से अपना जीवन बनाने में सहायता प्रदान करता है। : World Refugee Day focuses on the basic human rights of refugees and provides assistance in helping them rebuild their lives in new locations.
• शरणार्थी विश्व के सबसे कमज़ोर लोगों में से हैं तथा 1951 शरणार्थी अभिसमय और उसका 1967 प्रोटोकॉल उन्हें सुरक्षा प्रदान करता है। : Refugees are among the most vulnerable people in the world, and the 1951 Refugee Convention and its 1967 Protocol provide them with protection.
